Chief Financial Officer & Vice President, Administration

The Company is a federal Crown corporation that was created to optimize the financial and community value obtained from surplus properties no longer required by the Government of Canada. The Company is self-financing and implements innovative property solutions to create strong and competitive communities where it operates. Since its inception, the Company has distributed hundreds of millions of dollars to the Government of Canada. Based in Toronto, and reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief Financial Officer & Vice President, Administration is responsible for shared services (namely, Finance, Risk Management, Information Technology (IT) and Human Resources (HR) functions) for both operating divisions of the Company (being the Real Estate/Corporate division and the CN Tower division). You will serve as a strategic adviser to the President & CEO, the Board of Directors and the Senior Management Team on all Finance, Risk, IT and HR matters.

 

As an ideal candidate, you possess a university degree, a professional financial accounting designation (CA preferred) along with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience. You will have held a senior role within a property developer, real-estate or construction organization and be highly adept at interpreting the numbers and helping support sound and astute strategic decision making. While you enjoy a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment, you are diligent with process and are able to introduce robust checks and balances to ensure full compliance and integrity of the financial statements. Canada Lands Company CLC Limited (CLC) is currently recruiting a Network Engineer for contract employment up to twelve (12) months. Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the successful candidate will be responsible for the acquisition, integration, management, installation, security, maintenance and support/usage of the organization’s servers, local area networks (LAN), messaging system, the internet access infrastructure and the wide area network (WAN).

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

Network performance management and maintenance

  • Administration of the local area network (LAN), Citrix, the e-mail messaging system and Spam filtering system.
  • Perform network operations and implement network monitoring to ensure optimum network performance and availability.
  • Monitor, maintain, and direct daily backup for Windows environment as well as the corporate outsourced environments.
  • Monitor the system for performance problems and recommends solutions.
  • Provide troubleshooting and maintenance of data servers, user devices, and communications links, as necessary, to assure operational availability.
  • Perform periodic system audits to assure compliance and availability.
  • Support users at multiple remote locations utilizing remote assistant tools.
  • Monitor and test network performance; track incidents through to resolution.
  • Manage TCP/IP and core network services such as DNS, AD and DHCP.
  • Provide status updates and effective communication to stake holders.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory.
  • Assist to develop and enforce hardware and software standards.
  • Administer equipment, hardware, software upgrades and patch management.
  • Interact with vendors, service providers and contractors related to network products and services.
  • Security Officer adhering to industry leading practices.

Network Architecture

  • Provide assistance and technical support for network design activities through development of test, troubleshooting and operational procedures.
  • Recommend leading practices pertaining to LAN/WAN procedures and standards to ensure both systematic and organizational conformation.
  • Prepare and maintain all operational documentation for hardware and software configuration for the local area networks, e-mail and the wide area network.

Customer Service

  • 2nd to 3rd Level technical support to the Service Desk in support of ID management and security profiles and all desktop and network related services.
  • Provide backup for AS/400 administrator.
  • Assist the Service Desk in tracking and documenting all software and hardware purchases into the asset management (inventory) system.
  • Support the IT Director in all Problem Management, Change Management and Release Management activities.
  • Training of Service Desk staff on new functionality as required.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Post secondary education in Computer Studies. Minimum 3 – 5 years of related experience in Network Administration and Network management.
  • Certification in ITIL; Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE)Certification in Citrix, and VMWARE.
  • Accreditation in messaging (e-mail/calendar function) software administration and management.
  • Experience with several of the following - VMware, Microsoft, and Citrix products.

Competencies and Attributes

  • Ability to plan and manage small to medium sized projects independently.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to effectively implement and manage projects on a timely basis; balance a wide variety of priorities, and adhere to tight timelines and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Ability to assess information systems and user needs, and identify appropriate technologies; demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) would be an asset.
  • Strong customer service and have a sense of urgency; well-developed interpersonal and team player skills, with an ability to interact effectively with peers and to establish and maintain relationships across all levels.

This position is on call (pager).Occasional after hours and weekend work may be required.
