Reporting to the Vice President, Real Estate, West Region, the General Manager, Real Estate, Calgary, manages real estate activity for the Company in the Calgary area and is responsible for generating optimum financial and non-financial value from the real property holdings in the area. Properties are developed to increase the financial returns to the Company while balancing returns against the interests of stakeholders, including municipal governments and communities, and the policy objectives of the federal government. The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the real estate operations, including property acquisition, land development, urban design, servicing, remediation, construction, leasing and sales and marketing, and will include management of personnel.
As the ideal candidate, you have a university education in combination with extensive experience in real estate and management practices and procedures, including land redevelopment, building permits, site servicing, community consultation, urban planning, project management, engineering or architecture, and overall construction processes. You also possess a thorough understanding of municipal and provincial legislation applicable to real estate projects, including planning acts, environmental guidelines, zoning and municipal planning approval processes.

Creative Services Coordinator - Contract Toronto, Ontario
Level: Intermediate
Canada Lands Company CLC Limited (CLC), is currently recruiting for a Creative Services Coordinator for a 13-month maternity leave contract. Located at CLC’s head office in Toronto, the Coordinator works closely with the company’s real estate professionals across Canada on both online and offline communications projects. Reporting the Director, External Communications, the successful candidate will join a small but dynamic team of communications professionals responsible for the overall brand management of the company. We're looking for a Coordinator whose portfolio and experience include both online web and print design. In addition to extensive technical and creative knowledge, we are also looking for someone with expertise in social media and content writing, who is able to handle multiple and different projects at once. The contract will begin immediately and end in April 2011.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Social Media
- Collaborate in the implementation of the company’s social media strategy and initiatives.
- Manage the company’s social networking accounts.
- Counsel CLC on ways the company can leverage the benefits of social media.
Graphic Design/Project Management
- Create the conceptual framework for client marketing projects and translate it to copy, layout, and design, colour, and type selections for both online and print publications.
- Pitch creative and content concepts to internal teams and clients and clearly communicate concepts from historical, design, business and competitive standpoint.
- Manage content for CLC's on-line communication initiatives, including updating and writing content, coordinating website updates, changes, translation and roll-outs; work closely with Real Estate Project Managers to create strategic content for project-related on-line marketing.
- Update CLC’s Drupal websites, intranet, and CLC’s non-Drupal sites, code HTML content as required.
- Perform project management functions for website projects completed in-house.
- Create, design and produce CLC’s online annual report.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience and Knowledge
- Post-secondary education in a creative discipline, or a similar suitable combination of education and experience.
- Five-plus years experience in design, marketing, multimedia and/or advertising.
- Experience in on-line content development and management.
- Experience and knowledge of social media tools and best practices.
- Strong creative and conceptual vision for on-line marketing and the ability to execute high quality integrated communications against strategic business objectives.
- An expert in print and online graphic design, with competency in the Adobe CS4 suite.
- Experience applying theories related to colour schemes, use of space, text placement, typography, layout, motion design, usability and visual flow.
- Strong communication and collaborative skills, and the ability to work well on teams.
- Knowledge of pre-press and production processes.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD an asset.
- Experience in using Drupal content management system, Drupal development.
- Experience in coding HTML.
- Experience in Project Management, PMP certification an asset.
Competencies and Attributes
- Excellent written communication skills (preferably English and French) and the ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues in a clear and effective manner.
- Excellent oral skills, with the ability to make presentations to a wide audience.
- Demonstrates a commitment to bringing in new sources of creative inspiration; driven to enhance creative and technical skills.
- Ability to multi-task, balance a varied workload, adhere to tight timelines and maintain composure and focus under pressure.
- Ability to write in a style that is conducive to online publishing.
- Ability to work cooperatively with outside agencies, and staff and management in the company's offices across the country.
- Familiarity with the sensitivities involved in communicating with an array of public and government stakeholders.
- Expert knowledge of the Internet and social media tools.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
