Canada Lands Company CLC Limited (CLC) has agreed to a thirteen-month extension on the lease it has with the Calgary Farmers’ Market (CFM) at Currie Barracks. The new lease will expire at the end of November 2010 rather than at the end of October 2009.

CLC met with CFM officials today to discuss their lease and new information brought forward by CFM enabled CLC to offer this one-time extension to 2010. Due to CLC’s development plans, the lease cannot be extended further.

“CLC whole-heartedly supports the market and that is why we are extending the lease until 2010 to enable it to finalize plans for a new venue in Calgary”, said Doug Kester, Vice President, Real Estate, Western Region for CLC.

Currie Barracks, CLC’s newest project in Calgary, Alberta is the last of three sites to be redeveloped on this former Canadian military base. It will join the multi-award winning communities of Garrison Woods and Garrison Green.

CLC is a federal Crown corporation that optimizes the financial and community value obtained from surplus strategic properties no longer required by the Government of Canada. The company is self-financing and implements innovative, sustainable property solutions to create strong and competitive communities wherever it operates.
