On November 1st, 2010, Canada Lands Company (clc) acquired the site of the Pointe-du-Moulin in Montreal, Quebec. This site, located in the heart of Montreal’s waterfront, is part of the federal government Montreal New Harbourfront initiative announced in 2007.

Pointe-du-Moulin pier is one of Montreal’s most important sites, both for its historical significance and its urban presence. Dominating the Old Port skyline with its considerable height and volume, Silo No. 5 is a visual reminder of the intense industrial activity that once characterized Montreal’s waterfront. With its large silo structures, docks, spillways, marine towers and conveyors, the pier is a significant industrial heritage site for Montreal and for Canada as a whole.

Located on the western boundary of l’Arrondissement historique de Montreal, the pier is visible from the Old Port of Montreal to the east and the Quartier International to the north, a short stroll away up McGill Street. The Pointe-du-Moulin area is a key link between the Old Port of Montreal and Parks Canada’s Lachine Canal National Historic Site.

CLC wishes to undertake an innovative redevelopment of Pointe-du-Moulin that will do the property justice and contribute to Montreal’s growth and reputation. CLC will work closely with municipal officials and local stakeholders to determine the most appropriate use in the redevelopment of the Pointe-du-Moulin property and its noted landmark, Silo no 5.
