In 2005, Land Force Western Area and CLC celebrated the military history and legacy associated with the Village at Griesbach by holding a special event. At this event, a magnificent statue of Major General Griesbach was unveiled. In addition, it was announced that 11 streets would be named after after military heroes and events.

Over 300 guests attended the ceremony to celebrate a piece of Edmonton, Alberta’s civic and military history. The event was also attended by military veterans and their families. The event coincided with Alberta’s Centennial celebrations, and highlighted the proud tradition of service and sacrifices that remains valued today by residents of Edmonton.

The redevelopment of this historic site is an example of how Canada Lands Company works to builds strong and vibrant communities across Canada.
