Another former CN Rail property redeveloped by CLC, Oliver Village, became a catalyst in the rejuvenation of Edmonton's downtown core. The 4.5-acre (1.8-hectare) property was transformed from an abandoned rail site into a small but extremely vibrant community. The development incorporates 308 residential apartment units in two buildings, and 45,000 ft² (4,180 m²) of commercial space, including retail outlets and restaurants.
The Oliver Village Ashby apartment complex was such a tremendous success that it received the Downtown Development Award from the Edmonton Downtown Development Corporation.
Completed in 2003, Oliver Village provided the impetus for other developers to return to the city’s downtown core. Oliver Village’s success has helped inspire others to build new residential developments, shops and retail outlets. As a result, downtown Edmonton continues to enjoy a renaissance as a preferred residential and business area.
